Privacy Policy

Whimsy Walls is a wallpaper app published by CodeBitMatrix. This policy explains what data the app handles, why, and the choices available to you.

The short version. Whimsy Walls has no accounts and no sign-in, and we do not ask you for any personal details. The app does not collect or store your personal information on our own servers. The one thing that does collect data is the advertising we show, which is provided by Google AdMob.

1. Who we are

2. Information we handle

Information you give us

None. Whimsy Walls has no registration, no login, and no forms. We never ask for your name, email address, phone number or location.

Information collected automatically for advertising

The app displays ads through Google AdMob. To serve, measure and limit the repetition of ads, Google and its advertising partners may collect and process:

your device's advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID, or IDFA on iOS)
device and app information — model, operating system version, language, region, and app version
your IP address, which gives an approximate (city or region level) location
ad interaction data — which ads were shown, viewed or tapped

This data is collected by Google directly through its advertising SDK. We do not receive it in a form that identifies you, and we do not combine it with anything else.

Information stored only on your device

These never leave your phone and are not sent to us or anyone else:

Favourites — the wallpapers you save, stored in local app storage
Theme preference — whether you chose light or dark mode
Downloaded files — wallpapers you save go to your device gallery; live wallpapers you apply are kept in the app's private storage so the wallpaper can keep playing

All of this is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its data.

3. Permissions and why we need them

Permission	Why it is used
`INTERNET` `ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE`	To load wallpapers and to tell you when you are offline instead of showing an endless loading spinner.
Photo library (add)	To save a wallpaper you chose to download into your gallery. The app writes new images and videos only — it does not read, browse or upload your existing photos.
`BIND_WALLPAPER` (Android)	Required by Android so the app can offer its live wallpaper. You always confirm the change in the system wallpaper picker.

4. Third-party services

The app relies on these services, each with its own privacy policy:

Google Firebase Realtime Database — hosts the wallpaper catalogue. The app reads the catalogue and increments an anonymous download counter for a wallpaper when you save it. That counter is a number only and is not linked to you or your device. Firebase Privacy
Content delivery hosts — wallpaper images and videos are fetched from third-party hosting servers. As with loading any web content, those servers can see your IP address and device type when a file is requested.

We do not use analytics, crash reporting, or social media SDKs, and we do not sell or rent any data to anyone.

5. Your advertising choices

Android — Settings → Google → Ads, where you can delete or reset your advertising ID and opt out of ad personalisation.
iOS — Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, where you can turn off tracking requests for all apps.
EEA, UK and Switzerland — where required, you will be asked for consent before personalised ads are shown, and you can change your choice at any time.

Turning off personalisation does not remove ads; it makes them less relevant to you.

6. Children's privacy

Whimsy Walls is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us and we will act to remove it.

7. Data retention and deletion

We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing on our side to delete. Data stored on your device is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its storage. To remove advertising data held by Google, use the advertising controls in Section 5 or contact Google directly.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal data, or to object to it being processed — including under the GDPR (EEA/UK) and the CCPA/CPRA (California).

Because we do not collect or store personal data ourselves, requests about advertising data should go to Google. We are happy to help point you in the right direction — just email us. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law.

9. Security

All network requests use encrypted HTTPS connections. Since the app holds no accounts and no personal records, there is no user database to breach. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. International transfers

Our service providers, principally Google, operate globally. Data they collect may be processed on servers outside your country, under their own safeguards and privacy policies.

11. Wallpaper content and copyright

Wallpapers are supplied for personal use on your own device. If you own rights to an image or video that appears in the app and believe it is being used improperly, email us with the wallpaper name and a description of the work, and we will remove it promptly.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves or the law changes. The "last updated" date at the top will always reflect the current version, and significant changes will be highlighted in the app or its store listing.
